November 21, 2002 RANDY ORTON SPEAKS www.wrestlingonthefringe.com/Patty/...rtonNov2102.htmRandy Orton, voted the Fringe's hottest rookie, has agreed to answer perplexing questions we all want to know! Here, he talks VERY frankly about women, his life on the road and ... well ... women As I told you before, I kept the questions simple and very much for the female fan. He was gracious enough to be open and honest with me -- and you -- in this light hearted interview. Thank, Randy, you're a real sport. Patty: Both Ms. Fury and erikmichaelsgal are intrigued about your third generation wrestler status. Is it tough walking in the footsteps of your father and grandfather or have they helped you and cheered you on? Do you feel comfortable being Randy Orton and not someone's son or grandson? Randy: Well, honestly I think it effected the first few months of my career, when I first stepped foot in OVW. For those of you who aren't familiar with OVW, its is the premier "training camp" for WWE developmentals. I arrived in May of 2000, and I didn't know a thing. I had just turned 20, and was surrounded by guys that had been working for up to 10 years to get a deal (contract). There was a lot of um, hard feelings to say the least. Here comes me, some kid whose daddy got him a job. LOL, and it was absolutely true. Didn't have to many friends at first. My father and grandfather were behind me 100%. I don't think it is difficult to follow in their footsteps. I get feedback for what I do, and I don't think more is expected out of me, I just do my best. Patty: Do you think you feel more pressure to succeed in the business because you come from a wrestling family? Randy: No, but often when I have a good match, or cut a good promo, I hear "He's just like his old man," or "That kid's got it, he reminds me of his father." So, I don't think I'm under pressure, but I KNOW if it wasn't for them( dad and g-pa) I wouldn't be here, because its true, my dad was one of the best heels in his time. He's an endless source of knowledge. Patty: Besides your father and grandfather, who were your other wrestling influences when you were growing up? Do you have a "hero" or an all time favorite wrestler?

Randy: Not really. I never did, because I knew the business better then most. I knew that my pops was going to be on TV Saturday morning, and he would be ok. I wasn't a fan really. I would watch my dad, and that's it. I do respect those men, now that I'm learning the biz. I watch a lot of tapes of old timers, and learn a lot from them.
Patty: Angel4lifek wants to know what you like most about Australia and what do you look forward to doing when you go back there.
Randy: Definitely the fans in Aussie are the most appreciative fans I've ever seen. It was amazing when we arrived. There were hundreds of fans , just at the airport!!. It was nuts, the hotel was always packed. As far as what I look forward to doing when I go back ... all I can say is I love Australian women. I do remember having a lot of fun gambling. Brock and I would go each day that we could. I never gamble, so I had to learn. I think I lost 400 Australian. I got to watch Brock win like 1800. Like he needs it. lol.
Patty: Kat wants to know what you do to relax. We know you don't have a lot of time when you are actively on the road but when you do finally get home, what are your hobbies or whatever that you do to wind down?
Randy: I honestly don't have really any hobbies. I have a Boa, but there is only so much you can do with a snake (at least that's what my ex says). I enjoy watching movies. I love to weight train, thanks to John Cena. The 15 new pounds I gained recently, I owe to him. I live close to my family, so I see a lot of them. Home cooked meals are always nice!
Randy's close pal, John Cena. Will he be next to answer the riveting Fringe questions? And will the two tag together any time soon? heheh.
Patty: Who are some of your close friends in WWE ... are you a people person or more of a loner when on the road?
Randy: I have many close friends on the road, partly due to the fact that so many of us are form OVW/HWA. I have had several riding partners. It is different up there then most would expect. Everyone really does get along. Cena and I rode together for the last few months I was on Smackdown. We get along great actually, have the same humor, I think. Maybe we will get to tag team together in the future? In the ring ladies ... tisk tisk tisk. I used to ride with Angle for about 3 months earlier in the year, but we got into it, and I made him tap.

Patty: A rather HUGE number of my readers what to know if you currently are involved with anyone and what you look for in a girl who you would like to hang out with.
Not gonna turn Randy on, Barbie. So sorry! lol. lol. Randy: I am always single, and that is my curse. I would love to be in a relationship, but with my schedule it just would be to difficult. What I look for in a girl is that she isn't to materialistic. I cant stand little Barbie doll chicks, lol. I like down to earth, naturally beautiful women. Of course being brunette is a huge plus. As far as hanging out, I don't limit myself to how many friends I have. The more the better, as long as they are true.
Patty: Lately we have talked about how rabid some female fans can be when meeting certain wrestlers. From my research , I know you are one of the ones who they seem to be rabid for. How do you deal with the female attention when on the road? Especially unwanted female attention -- if there is such a thing!
Randy: Rarely is there such a thing as unwanted female attention. LOL. But ... sometimes there is, and I try not to stay around, or I just tell them I'm John Cena, and give them his number.
Patty: Let's get to the basics I ask everyone. Stats please! Height, weight, whatever else you'd like to share with us.
Randy: I'm 6'5'', 240, blue eyes, dark brown hair.

Patty: The ever popular standby always gets asked to every wrestler who has crossed my path since I was editor of WCW Magazine: Boxers, briefs, or other. Oh, and you if it's other, you really have to elaborate. Don't leave the fans hanging!
Randy: Well I wont leave the fans hanging, but when ever possible I like to leave IT hanging. Of course there is a time and place for everything. And in my case it is quite easy to tell what my choice was that day. Just the facts.
Randy hates these pictures, but he is the only one who does! Maybe some lucky fan will win a chance to take new shots? lol, if you do, I want all the details!! Patty: By now, most of the female fans have seen the pics of you in nothing but a towel and even less. WHO took the pictures and why? And when do the next series comes out? heheheh (Did you know I am also a photographer? ahem.)
Randy: Those pictures need to be updated, they are old! They were taken almost 2 years ago in a hotel room the night before my first ever dark match, in Knoxville, TN. As far as who took them, well Cena said not to tell, so I wont. Maybe I should have a contest on my site to see who gets to take the next batch of pics?
Patty: probleus wanted to know if the boys in WWE have seen those pics and do you get ribbed about them?
Randy: No one has ever mentioned them to me, so I assume no.
Patty: Let's get back to the chick question. Do you date fans? By that, I mean, someone you may meet as a result of her going to a show and meeting you by chance (or design) afterwards. I know everyone is a fan as Shane Helms pointed out when I asked that question.
Randy: Yes.
Patty: Give us a description of your perfect woman. Hair color, eyes, height, all that good stuff. OH, and yes, personality too
Randy: Brunette, blue or brown eyes, dark skin, pretty hands, not too much make-up, real breasts, perfect ass, but if her personality is the nutss, forget it.
Patty: What is the biggest TURN ON about any woman you may meet?

|
Post by Nicole on May 20, 2004 17:40:44 GMT -5
Randy: If she looks me directly in the eyes, and has confidence in her self.
Patty: Conversely, what is the biggest TURN OFF?
Randy: Bad breath
Patty: You are very young and have a very promising future in wrestling ahead of you. Do you want to settle down and find the woman of your dreams soon or are looking forward to a long and promising singles life?
Randy: I kind of mentioned it before. I really don't see myself settling down until after my wrestling career is completely over. I would hate to be in a heavy relationship, and be gone all the time. It would simply not be fair to the girl. It would be hard to grow together if we are always apart. It can work, but I think I need to concentrate on my career for now.
Patty: I asked Raven this and of course he ticked me off with his answer (he usually ticks me off with ANY answer but not in a bad way). If there were two women interested in you and one was beautiful but stupid and the other had a great personality and had all of the same interests as you but was average looking at best, which would you prefer to spend time with? And be honest!
Randy: Your question could be taken different ways. If I were to "spend time" with this person, and be friends with this person, then I would say the smart ugly one. Now, if I were to want some ass, then I would say the stupid pretty one. I am being honest!!
Patty: Speaking of interests, you just found the perfect girl to take out. You have the night off and you're looking forward to impressing this girl. What would you do, where would you go?
Randy: After a nice dinner put out a blanket under the stars in the middle of nowhere, and just relax. I know its sounds simple, but I think that's the trick.
Patty: I see you far differently than most women, so let's see who is right here. I see you as pretty conservative, despite the pics all over the net. Others say I am way out there and that you are not at all conservative but are really a wild man on the loose. Who is right? It must be noted that my idea of conservative may be other people's idea of wild but ... you get the idea.

Randy: I really think there is a time and place for everything. When on the road, you never know who might see you being a "wild man on the loose" as you put it. We want to have fun, but too much fun can be trouble. You really don't want trouble. But if the atmosphere is right, watch out.
Patty: You're home and you're getting dressed to do some needed things around town. What would you wear? Are you a jeans and T shirt kind of guy or are you more into style and fashion?
Randy: If any of you have seen me around after shows or whatever, you know that I'm not really into style and fashion, lol. I prefer being comfortable. A jeans and t-shirt kind of guy, describe me quite well.
Patty: We know you are on the net (I have not divulged your email address, that is up to you) . What do you do on here? Are you into reading the sheets and the news or do you hang out at the chat rooms and see what people are saying about you?
Randy: I read reports of my matches. It's funny cause I get so many IMs when I sign on from people I have never heard of. It is due to the fact that I have given it out to a few untrustworthy people. I haven't changed my screen name because I forgot the password to the master screen name on my pc. Yes, and I'm to lazy to call AOL. I don't mind all the fans trying to say hello. Sometimes, I'll hear what they have to say if I'm not busy. Usually when I'm online, I'm answering e-mails, and doing stuff for my website. Since I've been injured, I will look at reports from house shows, and I read the Ross Reports on Fridays.
Patty: To follow up, how important is it to you to read what the fans and sheet writers think of your wrestling abilities. Are you affected by the reaction of fans on the net when they are positive or negative toward your character and in ring work?
Randy: Occasionally I read reports after I have been on TV to see what the fans had to say. It is always nice to hear positive feedback, from anyone. Negative feedback always sucks of course, but it does help too. It lets me know what the fans are thinking, and that is very important. They are. after all, what makes it possible to do what I do.
Randy shows off his biceps, oh and his tats too! I disagree that the would be better without the tats. I think they are awesome. Pic sent to me by Randy.
Patty: We are nearing the end although I could ask a lot more questions and delve far deeper than I have but I am being good and respecting your privacy which I think should get at least a signature in my website guest book from you, don't you? lol, I am smoooooth, aren't I? Wait, that's not the question. The question is, we have noticed you have some tats. Can you tell us why you got them and do they have any special meaning that you care to share with us?

Randy: My tattoos have absolutely no meaning. I hate to say this but I got most way before I started wrestling, and would have rather not have. I started in the summer having them all touched up, because the were very poorly done. After a lot of money, and about 60 hours in a chair, I have finally got to where I like them all, but like I said, I think it would have been better for my career if I had none.
Patty: What kind of music do you like and what is your favorite band and/or song?
Randy: Hard rock, Classic rock, a little rap. Right now my favorite band is probably Machine Head.
Patty: This is the end ... real quick answers here:
a) What was the last movie you saw?
Randy: Monty Pythons -"The Life of Brian" .
Favorite fast food chain?
Randy: Subway
c) Favorite meal (non fast food)?
Randy: Sushi
d) When you are home, you drive a ... ? (Don't say hard bargain either! hahaha)
Randy: 2001 2500HD Silverado
e) Favorite color?
Randy: Blue
f) I picture you as a video games type of guy. I don't know why and I never read anything that said that but you seem to me to be one. Are you? and if so, what is your favorite video game?
Randy: Not a video game type of guy. (Patty's remark. I betcha he plays video games at some point. I am usually never wrong, dang it! lol)
g) Favorite pick up line (you use or that someone used on you).
Randy: I don't have any pick up lines. I just smile and that usually does the trick.
h) Favorite cologne...this is very important to women, I will have you know!
Randy: Givenchy
I) Do you think when you become more famous and more successful, which is obviously going to happen, that you will change your personality and become less approachable? A VERY huge star in the business once told me when he was started out in WCW that he would never change his way with fans and would never become like the "other big stars" in wrestling. However, when he hit it big (and he really hit it big!), he did change and he is looked upon as not a nice guy anymore. Do you think that down the road the pressure of success and the road will change you and make you less fan friendly??
Randy: The way I was raised, and the fact that fame and fortune, never got to my father like that, I really don't think I will have a problem. Like I have said many times, I respect my fans, because without them , where are you? You never know though, like you said that person that "turned" on you said that he would never become like that, and he did. Time will tell.
There you have it, a little bit you may not have known about Randy Orton! I did also wish him a speedy recovery from us all here at the Fringe. I hope you enjoyed this interview.
